The Postgraduate Programme “Texts and Culture”

The Postgraduate Program of the Department of Greek Philology, titled "Texts and Culture," falls under the second cycle of university studies. The M.A. program, referred to as P.P. "Texts and Culture," comprises three specializations:

  1. Classical Philology,
  2. Byzantine Philology – Palaeography, and
  3. Modern Greek Philology,
totaling ninety (90) credit units (ECTS) with a minimum duration of three (3) academic semesters. The program concludes with the award of a Master's Degree (M.A.) in the field of Philology, at level seven (7) of the National and European Qualifications Framework, in accordance with article 47 of Law 4763/2020.

The P.P. “Texts and Culture” of the Department of Greek Literature is part of the strategic planning of the Democritus University of Thrace, is governed by scientific consistency and aims both at promoting the literary education of postgraduate students and at developing special scientific research. Specifically, the Programme aims: in the context of the second cycle of studies, a) to broaden the knowledge of postgraduate students and to increase their specialisation in the basic and individual specialisations of philological science, and b) to prepare them for the writing of a doctoral thesis. The Programme also aims to strengthen Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies, as well as to address the need for qualified scholars in the public and private sectors, both in Greece and abroad.
